The University Episcopal Community is a campus & young adult ministry that blesses Minneapolis with stories and meals. Most of us are between the ages of 18-23 and figuring out our next steps in life.  For some of us this is studying; for others of us it's working and for others it's both.  We draw from the University of Minnesota, Augsburg College, MCTC, and folks living and working in the greater Minneapolis area.

We are inspired by story: the Gospel story, our personal stories and the stories that we hear in our neighborhoods, schools and work places.  We believe that by hearing and reflecting on all of these stories we will learn about how we are called to use our energy in our neighborhood.  One big way that we do this is through Stories for Change--an event that we throw twice a semester.

We are inspired by meals: the Last Supper, community potlucks, and grabbing coffee with friends.  We believe that sharing meals and feeding each other enables us to get to know each other on a soul level.  We are also aware that many in our city do not know where their next meal is coming from--we are called to respond to hunger by sharing what we have.

We meet for worship Sundays at 4:30 pm at Grace University Lutheran Church (324 Harvard St SE. Park for free in the Hospital parking ramp on Delaware Ave across the street).  Our worship is based around stories, conversations and music.  We always host a free dinner afterwards.

Rev. Gretchen Roeck -- Priest Associate

The Reverend Gretchen Roeck joined the University Episcopal Community in 2016, having previously served children, youth and young adults in parish and camp ministries. Gretchen especially loves the energy, humor and the care for others she has found at the UEC.

When Gretchen is not with the UEC, she can be found with her 2 1/2 year old son Elliott, who is always on the go. Elliott keeps his parents, Gretchen and John, and their two cats, George and Molly on their toes. As a family, they enjoy exploring the Minneapolis Parks system, traveling to new places and learning new things. If you want to meet up for coffee or to chat, email Gretchen here.

Peer Ministers & Leadership Team

Peer Ministers serve the UEC by convening the Leadership Team to organize Community Meals, Stories for Change, worship and other UEC events and gatherings. If you're looking to get involved, check-in with a friendly ear or propose a new idea you should reach out to a Peer Minister.  Our peer ministers are Patricia Leach & Emily Philipps.

Leadership Team are the leaders who step up to make sure all of our community events happen.  Every six months we invite new folks to join the Leadership Team.  Serving on Leadership Team are Emma Ehling, Davis Long & Alyssa Brault
